Weekend Wrap up

We had a great weekend. It was nice to do something out of the ordinary. On Friday a friend of ours came for dinner. We fixed vegetarian lasagna and I created a new drink which was surprisingly refreshing. I beat the fellas in a game of Settlers of Catan.

Packing a punch even when she sleeps.
lemon, rosemary, tonic, simple syrup, and vodka

On Saturday our kind housemates got two extra free tickets to the Sidewalk Film Festival. Vivi and I went with the Hannon's that morning and enjoyed Our Mockingbird. Will joined us when he got off work and we watched Eating Alabama.

Vivi didn't like the film too much so we watched in the lobby.

Lots of good food and Avondale beer.

Enjoying the band.
Got to tour this old theater.

They are trying to renovate.

It was built in the early 1900s.

Girls pic.
On Sunday Vivi and I had a lazy morning while Will was working. It was nice to relax since we packed so much in on Saturday.

Vivi has been teething like crazy. Frozen cucumbers
for all.

Baby Gift

I saw this idea on Etsy and decided to make it for my friend Lindsay. I wasn't able to stay for her shower but did manage to make her a few onesies.

Recycled Hair Pieces

I have a few shirts that I have worn for so long they are now two times bigger than their original size. You know the ones. They once were trendy and added to your figure and now they only give you that frompy moo moo look.  They are way too old to give away, but yet you hate to throw away something that still has a little life in it. I found this idea on pinterest and decided to give my old shirts some new life.

the past two weeks

Life has been challenging these last 26 days. Will has been on his gynecology oncology rotation. He has been getting up at 2:45 am and not getting home until 7:30 some nights. I feel like a single parent. I have a new respect for these strong and brave men and women. In this time Vivi has started waking up 2-3 times in the night. We ran through the gamete of options and have landed on the fact that she is teething and we need to go back to swaddling. Vivi and I have made several road trips over these last few weeks to help the time hasten.

Our most recent stop was to Dothan, Alabama home of the Peanut Festival. We stayed with one of my best friends Lindsay who is nearing the end of her pregnancy. She has been a bit uncomfortable so we decided to keep her company for two nights.

Herreson is practicing his big brother skills

We used our pinterest skills to make homemade ice cream sandwiches.

We stopped off in Troy to see Ghita and Grandpa for a night. Then home to see daddy. The rest of the week we relaxed at home and tried to get back on schedule.

He says she loves this book.

We played.

We teethed.

We cooked.

We played baby superman.

And played some more.

Oh yeah and took lots of pictures.

It's no Clif bar but it will do

Since I have been staying at home I have had a little extra time to find different recipes and experiments to try.  My most recent one is homemade granola bars. I had some trouble toasting the oats. In my bowl I added dehydrated fruit, almond slivers, bran flakes, and a honey and peanut combo. They turned out ok but I need some more practice toasting the oats.
