It's Tree Chopping Time

It really is the most wonderful time of the year. We went to chop down our Christmas tree this past Sunday. This place was pretty great. They had FREE hot chocolate or cider and a live reindeer....just one and he looked a little sad. His eyes peereed into my soul and seemed to say great more ass clowns here to gawk. I couldn't hold his gaze very long because my shame was palatable for staring. We moved on.

Mikey brought his axe just to show everybody who was boss. It wasn't long before we found our tree. We all gave it a nice swing...some a few more times than others.

Even Viola got a quick sip.

Her stache looks like a French chef. She is so cultured.

These two are the cutest.

I forgot to mention these. Who doesn't like to have one of these at your tree farm?

Lindsay's turn

Getting down and dirty.

Mikey

A blood bath...he killed that thing.

I couldn't resist all the leaves...and neither could she.

I could eat her up in that fuzzy jacket.

Family shot.

Holiday Travels

Woooooo! I'm back. We spent the last 10 days on the road. I will give you the highlights before we leave again tomorrow. We headed to Troy to celebrate Mimi and Matt as they said I do. The venue was so beautiful. I would have taken more pictures but they frown upon bridesmaids acting like the paparazzi.

The following Sunday I headed to Dothan to see my best friend's baby who is now 3 months old. I know I get the award for worst friend. Isn't he adorable and doesn't he have the cutest big brother?

Then off to a friend's cabin for two nights to rest from all the traveling and fast pace. We made a fire and ate out of their garden. We also got to spend some time as a family which was much needed.

Then we headed to the lake for Thanksgiving with my side of the family. Then back down to Troy to be with Will's side of the family. I know I am tired just typing all of this. Even though we are tired we are thankful for our family and friends and the madness of interview season.

Week long Update

We have been so busy lately which is why I haven't posted very much recently. One of our friends that we met while we lived in Lusaka came to visit. She got to meet Vivi and have a southern meal. Lil stepped into the kitchen and it was so normal. It felt like she was stopping over to have dinner with us and then we would see her again the following week. It is weird how you can be in a place with no shared memories and feel like you have been there all the time.

Lil and Viola had big fun together.
We cooked her fried okra, cornbread, black-eyed peas, mustard greens, and mashed potatoes
Part of the Lusaka gang.
The rest of the week was spent mostly on the road. Vivi and I got to go to two of the three interviews that Will had last week. We visited Chattanooga and Savannah. I got to explore the cities and catch up with some old friends. We got home Friday and Will left Saturday for another interview. See I told you it was busy.

Our housemates planned a friendsgiving dinner on Sunday night. They both had been looking forward to Thanksgiving food and time with friends so they decided to start a new tradition.

Before
After
We had lemon butter turkey with a chorizo sausage stuffing, bread stuffing with sausage (that's right two stuffings), cranberry lime relish, creamed baby peas with pearl onions, salad, and mashed potatoes.
It was AMAZING! As you can imagine I went to bed full and happy. Today it has been rainy here so we stayed home and enjoyed a slow day. Vivi has an awful diaper rash so she has been airing her bits trying to get rid of that thing.
