Weekend Wrapup-A Holiday Extension

We had a great 4th of July Weekend. My friend Tracy and Miss Dottie came to visit this weekend from Nashville. I met Tracy at Mars Hill Graduate School in Seattle. We both moved back to the southeast around the same time. I was excited to show Tracy the Magic City.

Friday- We went to dinner at Bottega which everyone raves about, but I wasn't that impressed. We were on the cafe side which may have something to do with it. After dinner we took a walk through the parks and then headed home for a movie night.

Meet Miss Dottie. She is the sweetest.
Saturday morning we went to Urban Standard for coffee. It is kind of like Anthropologie meets a cafe. It is my favorite coffee shop in town.

We went to some flea markets in town.

came across varies goodies

We replenished ourselves at
V.Richards for lunch.

and had a little key lime dessert.

You might remember this drink from this post.

It was time for a little karaoking. So we took Tracy to
Bourbon Street.

Mikey wowed us with his voice.
Sunday we took it easy and slept in and had a late breakfast. We took Miss Dottie to the dog park and made dinner and had a delicious dessert.

Monday morning Tracy headed back to Nashville and I went to work half a day. That afternoon we had some crazy thunderstorms to which we napped and watched a movie. We headed to The Priest's for some firework action. We watched the fireworks from their rooftop which was right next to the Vulcan. The fireworks show is called thunder mountain. We enjoyed our evening, meeting new people and eating some really good food.

Helen and Esperanz. We are convincing her to climb the
ladder to the roof.

There's the Vulcan. He turned 107 years
old this year.

We took our leftover sparklers
from the wedding with us.

and played.

That's a heart.
